It has been alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Edo State led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has perfected plans to receive some decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday at their gubernatorial flag off scheduled for 17th July 2016.
Information reaching THE LEAD indicates that Oshiomhole has been begging some PDP leaders to decamp to APC with the sum of 10million naira each.
The situation is gradually degenerating, as some members of the APC are currently unhappy with the huge amount of money being splashed on the PDP members who they believe have little or no value in their various wards.
Recall that the Comrade governor had in several occasions called PDP a dead party in the state with nothing to offer in the forthcoming election. One wonders why the comrade Governor is paying as high as 10million naira for a supposedly dead PDP members to decamp to APC, a close aid to the governor asked rhetorically.
Analysts have frowned at the desperation shown by the Comrade governor in his quest to perpetuate himself in power through a proxy and said it’s a setback to the nascent democracy.
A civil society activist narrated how people were been humiliated at various motor and keke parks, including some rural communities in the state, forcing them to surrender their PVC’s.
“If the government’s claim that he has worked and he is finishing well is anything to go by, why is he afraid and intimidating people in order for them to vote his party”.
He also called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged billions of naira that was disbursed on Friday for the APC’S flag off.
He added that if the Comrade governor can disbursed such an amount of money during his flag off, one can only imagine the money he as earmarked to run this election.
Calls and sms message to the governor’s aid on media were not answered.
