Harry and Meghan Markle: Here Comes Future Royal Bride and Groom!

Just hours after announcing their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared together at Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon to celebrate the happy news, pose for their official engagement photos and record a television broadcast due to air on Monday evening.

The royal couple held their photocall in the Sunken Gardens, which was one of Princess Diana’s favorite places. When asked by the press how they feel, Harry replied: “Thrilled.” Very glad it’s not raining!” Markle then added: “So happy.”

When asked when he knew she was the one, Harry said with a smile: “The very first time we met.”

The glowing couple walked out into the garden holding hands. Markle, who fittingly wore a stunning white coat by Line the Label, lovingly stroked her fiancé’s arm as reporters asked them for details on the proposal.

“That will come later,” Harry said. When asked if the proposal was romantic, Harry replied: “Of course it was.” A smiling Markle then added: “Very.”

According to Clarence House, the wedding will take place in Spring 2018. It will be the biggest royal wedding since his brother Prince William walked down the aisle with Kate Middleton in 2011.

In a statement, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip said they were “delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.”

Seven years ago, in November 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton held their official photocall at London’s St James’s Palace to celebrate their impending marriage. As they smiled for the camera, the reporters asked the young couple questions.

Soon after they announced their engagement, William and Kate sat down for their first-ever joint interview – and it’s still their longest to date.

The interview, which served as an intimate look at the beginnings of their relationship and the proposal, aired on ITV on the day they announced their engagement to the public. Kate, of course, was wearing her now-famous royal blue Issa dress – the ensemble that truly started the “Kate effect.”

“It was a total shock when it came,” Kate said of William’s proposal in Kenya. “There’s a true romantic in there.”

William added, “As every guy out there will know, it takes a certain amount of motivation to get yourself going. So I was planning it and then it just felt really right out in Africa. It was beautiful.”

Will and Kate also discussed their relationship’s roots, starting with when they met as students at the University of St. Andrews. William said that they were friends for a year before they started dating, and after a laugh or two, things started “to blossom.”

Kate admitted that when she first met William’s father, Prince Charles, she was “really nervous,” but that the Prince of Wales was welcoming and friendly from the start.
